Choose wood over plastic
I didn’t have a lot of toys growing up, but I never felt like I was missing out. I mostly had wooden toys, and these actual toys are STILL intact, stored in my parents’ garage after all these years. I can’t wait for Savannah to play with the same toys I played with when I was a child.
Here are a few reasons why you should consider buying wooden toys for your kids, rather than plastic toys:
WOODEN TOYS ARE MUCH SAFER
Plastic toys can easily break, which leaves them with sharp edges that can break off, and potentially harm your child.
WOOD IS NON TOXIC
We all know that babies love to stick everything into their mouths, and wood is a much safer and healthier option than plastic, which can be toxic.
WOOD LASTS LONGER
Wood is a very durable material. Wooden toys can be passed on from generation to generation, and it’s an added bonus that there’s a story behind each toy.
WOOD IS ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
Plastic is a manmade, non biodegradable material, which ends up in our landfills and destroying our planet. Wood is a natural, degradable material, which will essentially become part of nature again.
Wooden toys encourage imaginative play. Pretend play builds skills in many essential areas that need to be developed in a child’s life including helping children to develop social and emotional skills, language skills and thinking skills.
